About six months ago or so Alex and I finally figured out exactly what we should do for our dining room light fixture. The problem was, the idea came from a gardening store and the fixture they were selling was a little off. I started looking into other options. I found a local company that makes them called Gulassa & Company. The problem is they wanted $6,700 for the thing! And that was on sale... They are a super high end place that makes super cool stuff but that just seemed absurd. I talked to Kelly Gilliam from Black Dog Forge. She was very cool and quoted me $3,000. Doable but... It still seemed like too much. I decided to put our search off temporarily.
We have company coming soon and we are throwing a party to celebrate our home's centennial birthday. I started my search for something temporary. I spent an hour or so searching sites trying to find something. I came across Illuminations inadvertently and found exactly what we were looking for. The best part is, it costs $125.00.
My next problem was figuring out how to hang it. Luckily, there was already an electrical box installed in the ceiling. I went to Harold's in Wallingford and was able to pick up a canopy and cross bar to install over the hole in the ceiling and they were nice enough to allow me to take the additional parts from another canopy so everything would match.
Alex installed the fixture and we were already burning candles in it for dinner this evening. It works perfectly and it looks stunning - I am starting to wonder if our temporary fix turned out to be permanent one...
